Some 60 - 63 info and pics of my progress
I had bought a 62 cab to replace my 63 cab. I didnt know that the front cab mounts are in different places and That I would have to re-drill them to get my new cab to fit. Just a little info for anyone else trying to do the same thing. It was well worth the extra work as you can see.

Looks really nice Raphyel , I wish my cab and frame looked that nice already. Gotta wait till spring or at least till it gets warmer than it is right now -14.
Did you swap out the complete frontend on that 63 with a later model crossmember? |

No swap
I didnt swap the front end. The drop spindles and power steering setup are via GMC Pauls. I have to give it to those guys. I have had some really nice business with them. The power steering was very easy to setup. The spindles however was a challenge in that after buying them I didnt want to spend a lot on the other parts, But it can be done way cheaper than buying the whole kit.

What did you have to do to get it to fit? I just had a 63 cab sand blasted and primed for my 62 SWB. I assumed they were the same.

Setup for cab.
I just cut the old cab mounts that are in the interior floor and drilled the tack welds out. I then sat the new cab on the frame and drilled up from the bottom into the interior where the new mounts are located. T then got a jigsaw and cut holes big enough to counter sink the new mount plate into the floor and after it sat flush, I tacked it in four places to hold it in. It takes a couple hours to do, but you have to do it with the cab on the frame and you have to drill from under the cab to make sure you are in the center of the hole on the cab support brackets on the frame. Otherwise you wont be able to get the cab mount bushings to fit correctly.

Very nice !!!! I have a question for you,if you dont mind. I have restored several of these cabs and all of them have the four 3/16th holes in a reversed L pattern left of the steering column opening on the firewall and I would love to know what the holes are there for. Thanks and have a great day,Apache
