Border Charges, Quick Question

For all you Canadians, what charges can I expect to get with a set of bucket seats coming across? They are going to be about 40-60 bucks, Not sure of the weight, about the size of the stock buckets, etc. etc. I doubt they could come USPS because of the size, but say they came some horrible way like UPS, how can I pre-determine what the brokerage etc. would be, or is there any real formula for it at all? Thanks.

Expensive

Hi Muddpile... If you pay 50.00 for the seats you will have to pay GST and PST on the Canadina Dollar equivalent which at todays rates should be about 22 to 24 percent depending on the day. at 2% it would be 11.00 so the CDN equ.. would be 50 + 11 for 61.00 .. PST & GST at 7% each would be 8.54.. So far the seats have cost you 61.00 & 8.54= 69.54... I swould think you are going to be looking at 100.00 to 150.00 US shipping charges depending where the seats are coming from. I don't know exactly what the broker fees wil be but you can expect at least another 40.00 CDN for them ..
Add it all up and yoiu ae loking at about 250.00CDN.. I have set of Chev Buckets with console from a 96 Chev Ext Cab Z71 that are 9.5/10 and wil sell them to you for 500.00 Canadian and I'm in Saskatoon.

Thanks Already Gone! Even at 250 bucks that still isn't too bad of a deal for a nice set of buckets. The seats you have, will they fit, what color are they, what kind of material is covering them and has anyone ever used those in a 67-72 before?

Do You?

Hi Muddpile. Yes 250.00 isn't bad for a set of buckets. It just depends what they are from and how good they look and fit in your truck. If you have or can get a hold of "Classic Trucks" magazine August 04 edition on page 80 it has an article on all the different seats that will fit our trucks. On the bottom left corner of page 82 it shows the seats I have and their comments about how they fit which says "perfect size buckets for this truck and the console sits perfectly level"..

1. What color is the seat you have?
2. What material is it covered in?
3. If I move the gas tank how much room would be left for a small sub box?
4. How much leg room and head room is there?
5. How adjustable are they?
6. Do you have pictures?

They are the stock GM grey with flecks color cloth seats. Find any 95/96 Chev or GM Ext Cab Pickup with Grey seats and you will see the color.

If you remove the gas tank you should have lots of rom for a sub, cause that is what I'm doing to mine.

I do not know how much leg and head room you would have.

The drivers seat is power adjustable and both seats have power lumbar adjustments.

My truck is in storage for the winter and at this time it is not possible to get you pics.
If you are coming to Saskatoon, let me know ( bring cash ) and I can arrange to show em to you.

I'm a straight shooter. Check my EBay feedbacks under Desperado49..

Thanks for the information man, but unfortunately I'm going to have to pass. They are nice looking seats (I found pics of em on cardomain), but they just aren't the style I'm going for. Thanks anyways.

You can get around UPS brokerage charges by having the shipper declare the receiver will clear customs..which means YOU go to UPS and get the paper work... then go to a Canada customs center and pay the taxes, they will stamp UPS paper that taxes have been paid.....I'm not sure if there will be duty...maybe not, but your looking fairly new seats so they might. Phone and ask them...there in the phone book.

Then back to UPS depot, to pick up the seats.

I live 100 miles from the nearest UPS depot/office. I think I'll just pay the fee at 15mpg

I live 100 mile round trip.. I do it, cause they can't deliver to rural area with PO boxes anyway. I also have them charge shipping charges as if to a city address...cause they charge more to ship to my rural address they wont deliver to me anyway. Save myself an extra average $14 there too.
