List?

I know I'm going to get hammered for this but where did the assistance list discussion go? I honestly think that this is an important thing to talk about. I know it was getting ugly but rather than drop it totally how about some happy medium as Josh had mentioned. It truely is for the better good of all the board members.

Basically to those late to the show. The assistance list was an idea to have a contact list so when your on a trip to pickup your next project or that piece your willing to drive several states to have and your experiencing problems you could find a board member locally to ask for assistance. I made a trip from Portland, OR to Lusby, MD and when I was three hours from home I had an alternator bracket break. I ended up limping home but any board member in the area would have been able to tell me who had a welder to fix the break. I was in the sticks from a Maryland perspective. If the problem was bigger then a board member locally would have been that much more beneficial. I think the thread got pulled by Josh, but it is a very good thing to work out and move forward with. The big beef with a list is privacy. Heck, some folks here have meets at there houses. My hats off to those folks. You never know who might come to one. Most board members trust other board members until there is reason not to trust them. I've sent LonghornMan cash in the mail for a part I was looking for. He thought it was funny and said that he thought he was the only one doing that. Point is I trust him. I didn't want to make him go through the headache of waiting for an out of state check to clear. Maybe Josh can lead the way to a solution for this because putting our heads in the dirt isn't going to work it out.

I removed the thread as people kept trying to gather info without haing a set firm plan in place that was approved by everyone... I think it is a good idea, but I won't allow it to go on to protect everyone until proper rules and guidelines are in place...

Okay Josh,
I set up a poll to see what the general concensus is on the board. If a majority thinks it is a good idea then we will work toward some rules and guidelines to establish that the majority feel are reasonable. I'm sure we will never get everyone agreeing on the right way to do this. I think the majority is a reasonable measure of the group. The people who decide to opt out, so to speak, would not be on the list. Of course, if they were to call someone because they broke down they may not get to much support. Sorry if this has caused you problems. I just want the best thing for the group. If I had broke on my trip and I was in Utah or Idaho it would have been nice to have some contact information of board members in the area with me. Take a look at the poll and let me know if you think it needs changed. I was trying to be a little funny while I made it but I think those who want to vote NO will do so no matter what the stuff says after the NO.

Don
