Interchange Manuals?

Wondering what the choices would be for a good interchange manual to cover '67 to '72 Chevy/GMC and newer trucks other than the complete Hollander Edition. Any info would be appreciated.

Yah most are useless....some have pictures too..of wrong parts. Hollanders are not too bad. I'd say get a Hollander issue around #36- #46 if you want some accurate info on changes to newer years that are the same. Not a ton of stuff is swappable but I use them and answer question on here using them often also.

Thats the one I have. Most of the stuff they list is pretty common knowledge. You would be better off taking the money you would spend on that book and donating it to this site. You will get far more usefull information here.

I have that book shown above, and I find it's pretty useless... unless you're looking for exact original part numbers (as in looking through some old stock of parts), but even at that, it's pretty lame, as some pictures are obviously wrong (and it doesn't have NEAR enough pictures). It tells you what numbers fit what years/models, but won't go into if something will fit a different year or model... so as far as using it to interchange parts, if the part has the same part number, well duh, it interchanges, but won't tell you if something with a different part number can physically fit, even though it's not 100% correct cosmetically.

My vote goes to Hollander, though it has its shortcommings... but still, there aren't any real good books out there. Lately, I've been really disapointed in some of the books I've bought on automotive topics. I'm sure with all the knowledge floating around here on this board, someone could piece together the ultimate book on these trucks.

Appreciate the info, y'all. Looks like I'll be sticking with Hollander. Have the 27th, 32nd and 38th. I'll be looking for a 43rd to 46th.

As for Hollander I would recommend them...get editions about 10 years apart and you can cover a good span. I have # 21, 23, 38, 44, 46 52, and a 1st edition picture book Hollander.

And I own that book above and others also. As I suspect most of you figured out by the posts I make..it aint all off the top of my head.

38 is the 1972 editon so anything a little newer than that is probably a good one to grab if you want just 1. They don't go cheap on ebay.

I just bought the 1954-66 Domestic and 1965-79 Domestic manuals from Hollander a few days ago from their website but I don't see an edition number. Where would that be? The only thing I see is the one set has 1966 and the other 1992 as copyrights on the second pages. These are brand new so I know they aren't actual '66 and '92 books.

These are going to be very helpful for alot of things but I must say, I'm a bit bummed it doesn't inlcude things like power door locks, wing window regulators, power trunk locks, defoggers, etc. As the owner of many Chevelles and Impala's, that type of info would have been very helpful.

Hollanders are great books, but not the best when it comes to many small parts. There are times they have something listed that you wouldn't expect but other times don't list what you would expect. Still glad to have mine tho.

BTW, Bob is this you from over at 348-409? ....EDIT: I reckon so. I should have read your signature first. 62BillT signing out.

You right, Rod. I've been watching a 43rd over there for days that no one had bid on. It had a minimum of $40. I was hoping to bid $40 or $41 in the last few hours. It just closed minutes ago at a whopping price of $96.78!!!
