reciever hitch question?

Will a reciever from a '91 burb fit on my '83k5? How about my 73' K20? Anything I need to know about these things before I buy? I just need one for a small 4*6 trailer right now, thanks

Burb frame is different from a pickup frame, it won't fit your 73 (I tried to get one to bolt up already)

Might fit the K5 though...

That would be awesome!! I am going to make a 3hr drive to pull some parts off a 90 burb and would like to know if I should waste the time pulling it off. thanks again

I used a reciever hitch for a burb when I built a hidden hitch for my stepside. The only problem with the burb hitch is the orientation of the receiver to the mounting brackets. The receiver will point uphill when the burb hitch is installed on a pickup.

Shimming the mounting bracket might work, but you are looking at 1/2 -3/4" shims between the frame and mount brackets.

My hitch used L shaped brackets to attach to the frame with the vertical leg of the bracket aligned with the outside edge of the frame. I cut the receiver tube loose from the mount brackets, swapped the brackets side to side, narrowed the receiver tube, and welded it back together. My hitch now has the vertical legs of the mounting brackets aligned to the inside edge of the frame.

Sorry it took so long my damn ISP has been giving me hell. It's a crude drawing too but maybe it will help. It's basically a top view and the red lines are where it bolts to the frame. Let me know if you need anything further.
