What did you get done?

My weekend sucked. I was on call Saturday and ran my butt off all day. About the only thing truck related I did was put a set of tires & wheels on Ebay- My auction

What did you get done?

Ever sand and wash a B-52 in prep for paint? That's what I did this weekend. Talk about fun.

But the money is good.

Not as much as I would have liked truck wise although I got the ball rolling.

Friday night I got my AirRide arms coated w/some custom frame paint I found the guys @ Stoked Out sometimes use on their personal vehicles .

On Sat I helped move a vehicle & got a free lunch out of it. Since we were just hanging out & waiting for the call to move the vehicle, I borrowed the truck/trailer & dragged all my sheetmetal for my 68 up to the shop. It looks like my beater is going to get all the crash damage repaired/replaced & get a nice satin coat of hotrod black. Hhmmm . . .... some new shoes next?

Today I had to sort through magazines dating back to the eighties. We're (ok.... she is) trying to get our gameroom in order & it seems my magazines all along the wall are an eyesore???? So I sorted most of the day. Found lots of keepers & even more destined for the circular file (actually, I give them to my younger brother & his roomates to sift through).

Monday night, I'll be yanking the motor & trans out of a magazine worthy 77 .

I recovered my bench seat today. My FIL bought me new upholstery for Christmas. It was already put together, and just had to be installed. A friend who does some upholstery work on the side showed me how.

Ken... SPILL IT!

i plowed all day Saturday, and the old girl managed to earn herself enough for a good tuneup when the weather breaks a little, and i can afford to have her down. stopped by my uncle's and checked on the progress on the cv replacement on the mini van. turns out locally, nobody has one. came home Saturday night and tinkered with my 95 Grand Am a bit, then got up this am and put a blower motor in my uncle's 94 C1500.

Wow i got a lot done!! I can drive Red again!
Friday i almost got arrested for something i didn't do, go to the general discussion form to here that rant.....
Sat i dug into the timing. Tore everything off the front of the block, then the crankshaft gear was stuck and we almost trashed the threads, had to use a tap set to straighten it up a bit. My cousin didn't know that on GM vehicles the dots are both at 12, rather than on his F***'s where its 12 and 6, so that slowed us down. Then we had a bia getting the timing cover back on. other than that it was smooth sailing. he screwed up the idle screws somewhere, so it idles real fast in park, but just right in drive.
Sunday me and my dad changed plugs and wires, so it runs better some of the time, but something, we suspect the trashed carb, makes it run bad on and off. added antifreeze and ATF.
THEN my dad went for a test drive, and heard the gawdawful noise something has been making, and he thinks its the tranny, cause it won't go into L1, and if you dog on it in 1st, it makes that noise, but not in 2nd. Gonna be a post about that too.
on top of this crap, my dad is having work problems, and i pray he has a job come friday....
So its been a hell of a time at the Darby household....

Put on one more coat of primer to my truck to see the areas that need to be smoothed bedore the final paint. It still needs a lot of attention before I can apply the flat red.

Pic of the current situation....

Finished buttoning up the engine swap into my '82 2wd. Amazing that when I went to start it, I poured about a 1/2 cup of gas into the carb, threw the lid back on then went to turn it and it fired almost instantly and ran without dying!?!
Got lucky there I guess.
I also did some tinkering with my '81 Jimmy including charging the battery and fired it up too. Kind of nice to be able to say that for the first time in a long time everything in the driveway moves under its own power!
Then jockeyed everything around so that the truck needing the most ('81 Jimmy) is the most buried in the driveway.

I actually managed to get something done to my truck this weekend! I buffed out the paint and got off the vandal's spray paint job to my truck, cleaned it up quite a bit. Also pulled out every bit of my stereo equip so I can rewire it or possibly move it into the Tahoe since I hardly drive teh truck anymore, The stuff might as well get some use. But it had a couple of wiring problems so I wanted to redo some stuff anyhow.

why would you want a used body board? Does the dog and girl come with it? If you are serious, which I don't think you are, I would wait for the cobra. If you have to drive a Ford you could get one with lots of power.

That's cool. What condition is the interior in? How many miles on it?

Actually I might be serious, I just didn't say "which" truck I'm trying to sell. If I did go this route rather than a Ram SRT-10 QC I would wait for the Cobra convertible Cobra....

125K and the interior is in pretty good shape. Rear a/c knob is broken and few panel tabs but other than that.

So Izzy, what are your plans for it? I assume it will be lowered, and possibly new wheels/tires? I think it would look sweet lowered, but keep the "police" look with the wheels/tires and spot light.
