I know we have been through this before but I lost the link. I am trying to ID the rearend in a '72 Longhorn. It has a tag and a casting number. I only have '67 service manuals and it looks like a GM with removable rear cover (10 bolts and drain plug in cover). Casting number C-30255 and tag number 461 above 354. Any clues?

DANA 60: The 60 looks deceptively similar to a Dana 44, but the 60's 9 3/4-inch ring gear diameter is a major factor in strength. It can be found in many 3/4-ton pickup and van rearends.

DANA 70: Almost identical in appearance to a Dana 60, the Dana 70 is standard in heavy Dodge pickups and GM duallies. The large 10.54-inch ring gear diameter will tolerate much torque, and is suitable for diesel power and/or big tires.

Eaton:Big & round... kinda like my ex-monster-in-law's backside!

Americanrider...thanks for the pics. Looks like a Dana 60 since this is a 3/4 or 1 t. Longhorn. I will call Randy's Ring and pinion to see if they can tell me more about the tag number. Thanks guys.
