Is this JCWhitney weatherstripping a good deal? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I need new weatherstripping around my doors and windows....getting lots of wind noise and water leaks in hard rain.

JC Whitney is offering this kit which has two door seals, two window channel seals, and four belt-line moldings (the pieces at the bottom where the window and door meet) for $134.95. I also have a 10% coupon I can use on top of that.

Is this a good deal? Is this good quality material? Or can I do better?

I don't know about Whitney but Softseal is hard to beat.

i got the front wondow kit and the rubber was too hard for the installer to put in. the original was still in good condition after i cleaned it up. i dont think you will have a problem with that on the side windows

Don't know if they would be from the same manufacturer or not, but I put a set of J.C.Whitney door gaskets on an '88 GMC S15. They fit OK except for the upper rear corners, the S15 had square corners and the gaskets did not have any pre-shaped corners like the originals. The 73-87 fullsize trucks have rounded corners so that shouldn't be a problem.

I used a kit from JCW on my 73. It fit pretty well. The biggest problem I had was with the vent windows. I had an oem rubber as well, and it wouldn't have mattered, I would have butchered either part. I found a nicer set in the junkyard on an 86 Blazer and went that way. The rest of the weatherstripping fit just fine.

I just ordered the weatherstripping kit and got the free shipping. Saved 16.99 but the $10 gift requires you to sign up for some shoppers discount website. Just thought you should know. When I get them in my truck I can tell you how they fit

I tried to used the window runs before and they were crap. Found them at the dealer for the same price. I wish I would have tried there first. Had a heck of a time getting refund from JC.

I've used the door and window strips from JCW. The door seals fit fine and still looks good after 2 years. The window channel strips are poor fitting. Next time I'll go GM on those.

i got window channel weatherstip from jcw, i dont know if i didnt do it right or what but seems to be to tight at the top of the window, becomes very hard to roll up

Same here:

I've managed to free up the driver's side, but the pass. side still gets tight in the bottom half of winding down. I think I'd try someone other than JCW for weatherstripping.

They don't leak and fit well, but are too tight. Shipping was good, though- I lived six miles from their warehouse at the time and picked 'em up myself!
