Talking I am happier than a pig in mud!

My brother called me and asked if I wanted to buy his Blazer. I said yea I sure do. Then I asked how much he wanted for it, said he just wanted the $600 he gave for it. Granted that's probably what it's worth, but I have been looking for a blazer (that I could afford ) forever!

It ain't much but here it is. BTW can anyone id wether it's a 250 or 292 from the pic, I can't.

72 Blazer

Lucky for you that it is a 4wd, or else I would be forced to take the hour ride over to you and swipe it from you! $600 is a steal! I bought a 1970 K5 4wd from the Virginia Forrestry Department back in 1995 for $500. It was in much worse shape but had a 350/th350 in it. I ran it for about a year until I cut my loses and sold it for $1500. I saw it this past Jan. 1st. My wife was taking me to Natchez for my birthday dinner. The guy had put a 67 front cap on it and painted it orange with a white top. It looked awesome.

I am starting to get itchy for a 2wd Blazer, Burb, or Panel. The problem is: I am on vacation next week...and I know where a 68 panel is that is only 15 minutes from my house!

On a serious side, if you want a 250 that runs good, let me know. I have the one that I just pulled out of my 71 step and am tired of looking at it!!

It's not here unfortunately, it's in Georgia, can you say road trip!
I might holler back at you about the 250, I don't know if this one is a runner or not yet.

250 engine

Here are a couple shots of it! Let me know! I would rather "keep it in the family" than scrap it. It runs strong. It was just not ideal for running up the interstate at more than 55mph with the factory 4.11 rear.

Yeah, my 67-72 brother, keep it in the family in more ways than one! Congrats.

The Blazer's body seems structurally sound. Only a little kick & rocker panel rust from what I could see. What are your plans?

Is that a P/S pump I see in the pic of the free motor? Why did I have to move away

Good find Krue! What's your plans for it, resore or part out? Ow man, I just went back and looked at your Blazer pics, and you have P/S too! You gotta save one of those set-ups for me. May have to come down in March for the mudbugs!

Hey Krue....I thought you said you weren't getting ANYTHING else until your wife got a new ride?!?!?! Hmmmm.....Anyway, if you don't end up with Subtle's 250, you are welcome to come get mine. I will be pulling it in favor of a S/B in a couple weeks. Just need a pair of "V8 location" engine towers before I start pulling parts out.

Thats a 250. Keep it or replace it with the same. I've got trucks with big blocks, small blocks and inlines and the inlines are the least problematic of the bunch.

That is a 3 on the tree column and I bet the floor shifter is connected to that same 3 speed tranny. I bet it has the dana transfer case too.

How do I know? Experience. Like I said I've had every engine except the venerable 305 and 351 V6's. Basically from that engine pic I can tell it's a 250 (or at least not a 292) based on the thermostat housing and the PS pump brackets.

That would be one cool Blazer if the column shift was put back to original and the offset air cleaner could be reinstalled. Like this:

Subtle71 I sent you a pm on the engine. So far I plan on getting the blazer running, then driving one and fixing the other. Depends on how much damage I find on the blazer.

while i was at work i was thinking about this post ( ) and then thought that it might be a 3 on the tree. what would be the point of changing it to a floor shifter other than the linkage not working any more??? what does a 292 thermo housing look like in comparison???
sorry for the :hj:
