New gauges...mech or elect
Thinking about going to Autometer and new bezel....any opinions on mech or electric?

My opinion has always been to use electric for ease of hookup for everything but oil pressure. Mechanical gauges don't lie, and either work, or don't...nothing in-between, and oil pressure is the most important gauge...

I like mechanical gauges, but that's probably just because they are cheaper. If I was working on something nice I would use electric gauges because I think the wires can be ran to give a cleaner look under the hood than having tubing running around.

So is there a descrepancy between mech oil and electrical oil pressure gauges?

Autometer gauges, esp the temp. gauges are notorious for being up to 10*F out. With a mechanical gauge you don't have the maybe works/maybe doesn't, they either work or don't, but the plumbing is a bit more visible, and slightly more effort to run, that's why I just use the mech. oil pressure as that is the only gauge I watch religiously.
