Ken he may not be bored just snowed in. There was a hot rod magazine article years ago where they made a cowl hood for a camaro. They used a nibbling tool to cut the part that need to be raised then used spray paint can lids as spacers to lift it to the desired height. Next they used trimed metal strips to fill in the spaces where the hood was lifted. It looked pretty cool, but I've never had the guts to try it.

Why sure! I say go for it... I did that to my hood but I cheated. I bought a wrecked SS Chevelle hood for $20 & cut off the scoop & welded it on my hood. Here it is in the "preweld" stage. Sorry, I dont have any finished pics of it but Ill work on that for you...corn

i'd just use rebar or something along the ends and such to strengthen it..

Rebar may not be the most attractive though
I would use flat bar, small solid round rod or sq. tube.

Question

Hey RC,

Can you post that article form the mag. id like to see it i have a harwood glass hood on my truck and i still have the original steel hood and i may want to do that on my old hood.

Depending on how good it looks id'e rather have my original hood on my truck cuz that harwood hood is a real POS.
