Front sway bar
Wondering if the front sway bar from a 1980 3/4 ton would be the same as a 1971 3/4 ton. (both 2 wheel drives)
Mine was ripped off but found this one in a junkyard. Also, how hard is it to chisel out the rivets on the bracket to frame? One of mine were damaged. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html

If you have an air-hammer, you might get it with no problem, otherwise maybe you have a steady hand and a torch?

I have removed lots of front sway bars with their brackets. They aren't too bad if you have a sharp chisel and about a 3lb. fist maul. About 2 or 3 wacks will remove the head of the rivet then you just drive it out. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Thanks guys. I'll try the sharp chisel, & BFH technique. LOL
Just didn't want to buy it and find it didn't fit. I have enough knick knacks hanging around. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html

This same topic came up a bit ago and someone said you could buy the bracket for about $7.00...? dunno if that is correct, but that seems easier than beating the rivets off and cleaning the mess up.

Yea, I posted a topic about whacking rivets. I went to the local Chevy dealer and bought new brackets instead. The frame brackets were about $20, and the bushing retainers were about $4 each.

Got the sway bar and even installed it. Worked out great. Got the bar, all brackets and decent bushings all for $10. A real bear getting all the bolts out though.
No good on removing those rivets. They are huge! Anyone that even attempts this should take hearing protection. That was loud under there! Thanks for the help. I managed to use my old bracket so that nightmare is over. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html
