Widest tire on a 61?????
What is the widest tire you can run on the rear of a 61 stepside shortbed without having to narrow the frame? And how hard is it to relocate the trailing arm?

I saw a 60-66 at Cruisin' the Coast that was running 14" rears so he said.
No major mods to the trailing arms, just tubs. I believe there is one in LA. that has the same. |

i have a 315/17 under the back of my 64 stepside.i believe that with the right offset rim and cutting the bed,you could run a 17" wide tire.

Thats what I was wondering. I have a 315-35-17 on a 17x11 rim. I was hoping that it may fit. I am using the 61 frame on my 57 chevy truck. Also I will be upgrading the front suspension to a 86 chevy truck front suspension and rebuilding that will polygraphite impregnated bushings on the front end. Is there anything else that you guys might advise me to do to this to make it handle better? Any of you guys ditched the coil springs and shock combo and gone with a coilover setup on the rear end? Any info will be helpful. Thanks.
