Talk about ebay robbery! Check this out......

Check out the crazy shipping charges on this pair of gauges...... A PAIR OF GAUGES?!?!?! What do they weigh about 50lbs each. I know that some people try to put a little extra in their shipping prices for whatever reason, but this is ridiculous.

In reality, they'd be around $4-$6 max.

I think that some people charge a little extra for thinks like box to ship the merchandise (if your buying it from UPS it can get expensive depending on the size), bubble wrap and all that extra stuff. I have to agree with you though, $30 sounds a little much.

That guy is a new seller with zero feedback. Maybe he'll learn when he gets no bids. Or worse, bidders that did'nt look close at the shipping charge ( own damn fault ) and leaves a few negatives for him.

I deal on Ebay a lot and this is the new scam--exhorbitant shipping fees hoping people don't check before bidding---or else not posting shipping $ at all hoping
the bidder don't ask before bidding thereby giving the seller a blank check so to speak. I have a negative feedback now from some A$$hle that wanted double the normal shipping and I told him to stick it. One guy even refused to give me a shipping cost until I bid! The lesson is, get the shipping cost in writing before you bid! Ebay is going to start losing customers if they don't get involved and correct this ripoff.

The ebay fees are getting outrageous but it's not fair to jack up shipping fees to the buyer. If someone wants to cover the higher ebay fees, state it in the auction that you charge a handling fee to cover the listing fee increase. I doubt ebay cares much. Their main focus is the bottom line and the responsibility they have to their shareholders. The way they look at it, the more they increase their margin, the more attractive their stock looks to potential investors. I wish a new auction site would start that would rival ebay.

I ALWAYS check shipping charges first. I think so many people are inflating shipping charges to cover the low prices of the items they are auctioning. They figure that 20 other people are selling the same item but if they sell it to you for $10 cheaper and then make it up on the shipping that they will be even and get more buyers that way. I just recently bought a tailgate handle and bezel from the same seller here in TX and i asked him if i could pick them up and he said NO, then i asked him if he could combine shipping on the two items to save me some $ because he had $10 listed as shipping charges on each item. Now i know it only cost him about $5 to ship both but his prices were $10 cheaper than the next guy so in the end i still saved $5. He was cool and emailed me back saying that he was selling these items at cost and only makes money on the shipping and since he had the shipping charges stated in the auction i didnt have a problem with it, its up to the buyer to read the entire auction before bidding.

gonebad2,

Ebay DOES care. When I was a new ebayer, I once indicated in a listing that a $1-2 would go toward handling/ebay/paypal fees and my listing was terminated. That was followed by a message from ebay that stating any such thing in a listing is a violation.

In general, you ought to ALWAYS check those shipping fees. Even the "postage calculator" can be rigged to collect high shipping fees (higher than necessary) if the seller uses a few extra lbs. for the determination. Buyer beware, lots of idiots trying to take your money.

On the other end, I always list my shipping fees... and right now I have one non-paying bidder and another item that remains unpaid. Easy to get screwed either way. Bamm 24, thanks for the reminder.

Ebay must have gotten their panties in a bunch because they did'nt get their percentage of the $1-2 handling fee. I always list my shipping fees too. Sometimes I make a little sometimes I lose a little. I try and make it fair to the buyer. I buy boxes and shipping supplies. That stuff gets expensive. I always try to pack/ship something how I would like a seller to ship it to me.

I got a negative feedback cause they guy quoted me shipping by a company that couldnt ship to me anyway...even though he agreed to ship to Canada...one pretty much has to ask for a specific shipping carrier now too in shipping arrangement prior to bidding....

after explaining that to him he insisted on that amount from an air shipment company and would refund the difference if any... well it was $8 to ship by mail, and he charged me $40...agreed to refund me $10 and never did so..forwarded all emails with all the tags that proved my case and to what avail..nothing...he got my bad feedback on him... retaliatory feedback left by him on me..its all bull hockey. Ebay wouldnt remove my negative feedback.

Ebay did warn him on the fact of fee-avoidance....your suppose to list something about shipping in your ad... even if its arranged afterward. Whoooppee... that a - learn em.
