Fiberglass top repairs
I am in the process of redoing my 72 Blazer. The top has some cracks in it,at the hatch hinges and hatch door and was wondering if anyone has dealt with this before?
Thanks |

you have to grind out the cracks, the top of repair should be about 2" wide tapering down to the bottom then tear some fiberglass mat in strips in different widths , saturate with resin and lay in crack skinny strips first up to full width untill void is filled ( make sure hatch is clamped in the right shape before glassing )fair it out and finish

Do what Kman said but If you do not want to hassle with all of the strips of mat, take a bunch of the mat and tear it in to small pieces and put them in a paint cup and pour your resin in the cup and mix it around and then put the clumps of resin saturated fiberglass mat in there. Works like a champ. It is just like when they build a part with several different directions of mat.

yes you can use pieces of chopped strand or cut up mat just make sure there are no air bubbles or voids when you lay it down
