oil pan on a 86 6.2diesel
can you pull the oil pan off the engine with the engine mounts still connected in the truck

I replied to your PM, Blue85, but I will also post here for future reference:
On 4WD trucks, there is plenty of clearance to drop the oil pan on the 6.2L diesel without doing anything else except dropping the starter and perhaps jacking the front end of the truck up off the axle a bit for extra clearance. On 2WD trucks, some folks have reported being able to drop the pan without lifting the engine, but I have found that I have to remove the motor mount bolts, jack up the engine a bit, and then slide the pan out. I replaced the oil pan gasket, rear main seal and oil pump on my '90 K5 Blazer. I removed the turbine inspection cover and support beams, then unbolted the pan and turned the crank so the pan cleared the front counterweight and crank throws. It was not necessary to remove the starter or lift the engine. I had the truck on jackstands that were under the front axle, to allow more crawl space below the axle.
