Nice job. I caught the valve cover trick. Just curious which heads (casting numbers) you used to support that 406? Are they a set of the more common 081's or 191's?

Ok, probably 081's or equivalent. The 191's/193's (tbi swirl ports) are around 168cc in stock form. Should be nice with the upgrades.

I didn't use the swirl port heads my machinist said not to use them. The heads I have I did alot of bowl work and smothing bumps. They flow more then a stock 2.02 head even with the 1.94s that are in them. They screeeeem!

How do you pass emissions with the 406? I am from Glendale and I am wanting to start an old chevy truck project But I am worried about passing emissions with a bigger cam and carb.

If your running a Holley carb I'v got it down the other carbs.( no ) Im a little out of practice, This is my first hot rod in 20 years. I mostly ran Big Block Mopars and Fords. My Ford had a 538 lift 308 der cam, and a Holley DP and had no trouble passing the state tests. I would pull in the building and it would shake the hole place. The guys there took one look at the truck and said, It wont pass. They ate every word. I got a 1.28 out of a max 4.00 HC. As long as the carb is setup right,( no problem ) If you have any questions Email me at ureckmefix@cox.net Matt
