Mufflers?
Exhaust for my 1988 LongBox standard cab K2500 Chevy.
Okay I have like 6 feet of straight pipe coming off a F.I. 350 with Hooker headers and absolutely no back pressure to speak of. I am worried about sucking a valve or sucking water back up into my engine. There is collectors at the end like they use to have mufflers but not right now. My question is how much should I be worried about sucking a valve or something worse. I have been thinking about running the straight pipe all the way out the back under the bumper but I have also been thinking about Cherry Bombs or some other glasspacks, maybe FlowMasters but there not in the future budget anywhere soon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

You have no mufflers? Is your truck street legal? I've got glasspacks on my '69 and I hate them. I also had glasspacks on my '70 challenger R/T and went to Flowmasters when I put in a new exhaust system.
Sometimes you can find used Flowmasters pretty cheap. They are usually ones that were installed and the owner didn't like the sound so they pulled them right off and put on new ones.

If you don't have the cash for Flows right now, check into some Summit Turbo mufflers, available at (go figger) Summit Racing. I had them on a previous truck, and they sounded nice. They only lasted a couple years, but they were also only $15 each.

OK, here is the deal: I might have money $$$ to go with FlowMasters but now if I can afford them what series should I go with?

I have the 50 series and I like it. Not too loud, but it sounds great.

I have Dynomax Turbo's... they were around a piece. Quiet, but they have a nice howl in the throttle
