I finally got the cowl filled and put back on here's some pics. What do you think? I left the area behind scoop open for air. The after pics look a little weird because it rained this evening and the truck was wet.

It's the stock hood with a custom built steel scoop I built. It wasn't an easy job but it didn't cost anything either which saved me about $400+ dollars. Besides it was fun doing.

I am but I'm waiting till I get me a power antenna to french into the old fuel hole in cab. I relocated tank under rear.

Did you fill it mounted on the truck? If not was there any warpage of the cowl from the heat?

I took it off and done it which was a good thing since the holes were full of pine straw and leaves. Boy that would have been a barbecue! I believe there might have been some slight warpage but not much. I skip welded the filler pieces a little at a time so there wouln't be so much heat build up in one spot at one time. But leaving the center open still gives the heater air so it still works good.

I got some pics of when I first put it on the hood RAW and BARE and a couple of after it was primed. I'll have to up load them first. It may take a while I got about 6 or 7 and I'll have to resize them so it wont take as long to upload. I have a drawing when I designed it, but it's in my tool box at work so that will have to wait till after the weekend. It was made of one solid piece of sheet metal that was cut bent and welded into the shape of the scoop. It took about 2 hours of design and about 4 or 5 hours of fab work. Installing it was another story. I am in the process of going back over it to smooth it up some around the edges. I may get the pics later tonight or sunday because I'll be out of town tomorrow.

Actually I'd never heard of doing something until I saw and read all the replies to your original post about it. It definitely makes it look different. I decided not to fill in behind my hood scoop so it would still get fresh air through the top. You can't hardly see the open area behind the scoop.
