What parts?

Thanks Guys

I don't think there's much, if any differences between the two. I could be wrong, of course. But I think as far as intakes / accessories / heads / exhausts / etc, all big-blocks from 396 to 502 (excluding the tall deck ones, I think) are treated the same way...

If I am not mistaken the main difference is stroke, but the 502 may have a little overbore. The 502 was introduced as a gen iv big block about 14 year ago. The gen iv through vi blocks share just about every feature other than increased strength. Some parts wont interhcange, but most will.

They require slightly different head gaskets & I think 502's valvetrane is not adjustable unless using aftermarket parts, of course the obvious is the bore, hydraulic roller cam vs. flat tappet, aluminum heads, revised timing gear cover & a couple of other things I can't think of.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Gearhead Dave...not exactly, I think you mixed 'em up. The bore on a 454 is 4.25" stock & the bore on a 502" is 4.47 & both have a 4.00" stroke crank. The other things I couldn't think of earlier were the 502's do not have a provision for a mechanical fuel pump & don't have the threads for a clutch linkage pivot ball for the clutch z-bar linkage(but someone does now make an adapter).
