buy or machine front shaft
I have a 79 gmc 3/4 ton and the front shaft has all of the splines ripped off of it. I have been told that these front shafts are hard to find. I am wondering wether it would be easier to have it remachined or try to find one. thanks in advance

If it were me I would try and find another one or have one made, I was looking for a rear shaft before and Auto zone or Advance told me that they could get the front but not the rear.

what do you mean front shaft? is it 4WD? if you're talking about the slip yoke or the front output/input, than definately do not have it re-splined. that will cost a fortune. there is virtually nothing that cant be replaced relatively cheap on these trucks. hard to find, my arse! give me a PM if you need the name and number of a GOOD driveline supply (in so. calif.)
