pics of bumpers
I have a 79 GMC that the rear bumper is a little rough on, oh ok a lot rough on. I want to build my own bumper, but I don't know exactly what I want it to look like. If any of you have ever built one I would love to see pics. I am going to be doing some 4-wheeling so I need a bumper that will hold up. Not a show bumper just one to serve its purpose.

Here is mine, nothing more than a big ugly piece of pipe. The ends are angled in some and it has a tab on it for a clevis. I can get better pics of it if you want. Strong, easy, and cheap.

Wow 1972, what mods does your chassis have? how did you make it bend like that w/out messing w/all the fuel lines and everything else?

The only thing done to the frame is 26 years of abuse. The frame is real flexy, and the truck also has a body lift which tends to exagerate it a bit. There are some more pics of it on my cardomain page, it looks like it should break but it still holds together... for now.

Here the rear bumper on my truck, I had a friend build most of it for me, has a 2" receiver built in and I used old u-bolts for a place to attach straps and such and for safety chains, althought I still have my frame mounted hitch because I feel safer using it instead of the bumper, the bumper itself is made of .120" wall steel and held on by 4 grade 8 bolts, so its plenty strong. But my hitch is rated for 10k lbs and held on by 6 grade 8 bolts
