tranny question

i know this is the wrong spot for this but this one gets the most traffic. i found a 95 full size extended cab 4x4 for 3000 bucks but the tranny doesnt have reverse. is this the 4l60e tranny??? what would it cost ruffly to have rebuilt? or should i just get a used one pulled. sorry i am just trying to get things figured out so i can decide if i want to buy it or not.
Thanks
Ben

Yes, a 95 has the "e" version of the 4L60 trans. Around here, they run roughly 1000-1200 for a full rebuild with some performance modifications.

i don't know how much this will help but my 700r4 is costing me $600 with a new converter, corvette gears, and a modified switched overdrive. the shop is also going to clean the case so i can have it powdercoated.

do you guys think i could drive it the 175 miles or so home with no reverse. i know in older cars (my friends toyotas) you could drive all day (or year like he did) and just be creative when parking. thanks for the help

it might make it...but not knowing the internals of it...but knowing how screwy modern automatics are...I wouldn't do it.
At least, not without talkin to a tranny expert.
