Engine wiring help
Bought a new harness for my 69 with HEI conversion from GMC Paul a while back. Instructions say to compare to the old harness and wire accordingly. Well, my old harness was hacked by the p.o., so the instructions are useless.
I have a yellow and purple with lugs together. A blue with a spade and round boot. A yellow and a pink wire that mate into a spade. A pink wire with a spade. A dark green with a pin receptacle that I assume is for the temp sensor. Which wire goes where????

The pink-yellow would be used if you still had points to connect to the + on coil.(single pink would not be used if you still had points)

Thanks. Am I right in thinking that the solenoid I post is unused with HEI? I put a mini starter on a while back and think there is only one wire going to the solenoid.

As long as you have the right voltage goin to the hei while crancking the motor you should be fine, remember to tape or cut the end goin to the sol post, it should still be live, you dont want a short..Cant answer about the post being used w/hei.....

Yellow wire in the pink-yellow harness is hot only in the crank mode-pink is hot when switch is on. (yellow wire supplies straight 12 volts to coil when cranking in a points system). Just tape this harness up as it will not be used in HEI system.
