I used acrylic on my 86 toyota and it looked really good and was really easy to paint, becuase you mix all the stuff up and spray it at once as opposed to spraying on base, then clear, and it was cheap....I think $80 for 1 gal paint, pint of reducer, and the little jar of hardener. BUT BUT BUT it chips easily. Could be bcause I used cheap primer. When I do my 67 I'm gonna try base/clear which is much more expensive, but, imo, is a million times better. That's the extent of my knowlegde. You probably want to know about base/clear.......

If you're going to paint over the existing paint job, you'll need some prep-sol to remove any wax or grease, 1 gallon of sealer, 1 gallon of paint, a pint of activator, 1 gallon of reducer, 1 gallon of clear and that should do it (I think).....It's been about six years since I painted my last car.

Dupont makes a good Epoxy primer (DP-90) but it costs $$$. If you didn't use Epoxy primer on your truck, you'll still need a gallon of primer sealer. I always use Dupont Chroma-base.

Nason will also dry fairly quick too. I've used it several times with nice results.

I would apply a few coats of primer on any body work block it. Then apply two or three coats of primer over the whole truck the block the whole truck. But first you need to remove that spray can primer (sand it off or wipe it off with laquer thinner). The quality of your finnish is only as good as what is underneath it

Hey Randy, I thought DP-90 was PPG...

I just painted the cab of my truck with PPG and I'm very pleased with the paint.
23$ / L so that is 87$ / gallon.
