Front end parts swap
Finally getting to my 69 stepside front end and steering swap,I have a 1985 1/2 ton chev 2wheel parts truck that many have said I can just change the A arms steering- spindles ect. and it will bolt on except for elongating 2 holes.Does this sound right to you guys? I am not changing the crossmember if I dont have to. ALSO this parts truck has a tilt column will it go in without major reconstruction? and what about the column wiring after? THANX guys great group here love the pics and discussions.

If you're not changing the crossmember, there is no bolt hole enlongation needed.
Just change all 4 control arms onto you older crossmember. The uppers are held on by 2 nuts each and the lower by 2 u-bolts each. Then, swap the entire steering linkage over too. Take everything from the idler arm to the pitman arm with tie rods and all. You can also use the steering box too. The column isn't an easy swap. It's much bigger than the early columns and has the key, and wiper controls on it.
