Stupid haynes manual

Are there better DIY manuals out there? Or webpages specifically for 67-72 truck info like the manuals?

I'm looking for the ways that things are routed, like wires, hoses and heater stuff. I'm looking for how things were ran from the factory. The truck I bought looks like the PO worked on it ALOT. Which may not be a good thing! The manual I have only really tells you how to fix stuff, but I'm just looking to learn as much as possible about my new truck.

Thanks Guys For All of The Help You've Given Me So Far!

Get a factory assembly manual. That book has told me more stuff about what goes where than I care to mention. The board vendors should sell them.

Cool thanks. It's just so hard to be outside in the snow and 5 degree winter when the shop at work is full of fixers! I'll check that out.

I have to agree with SKOKIE. I got mine in about three weeks ago and have found a lot of good info . The thing I did not like about it was there is not any info on where to find the specific info you are looking for. for instance there is no glossary or page numbers on the manual. So you will have make your own like I did. All in all this was the only manual that helped with the column problem I was having.

Good luck

Would you post your homemade glossary? I haven't made one yet, and it would be cool if I could just steal yours

Sorry 71swb4x4, But due to there are no pages. It's not much of a glossary it's more like Post-it's flags. I will try to number all the pages and put something together over the weekend and get back with you.

I have both a Haynes manual and a CSM for both the Olds and the truck. I toss my nasty, ripped up, greasy haynes manuals in the trunk for quick roadside reference if I need it, and keep the 2,000 page volumes at home. If you guys have never seen a CSM for 1983 oldsmobiles, you're missing out. First, there's the CSM that's at least 1500 pages, and another 900 page ESM (electrical service manual). insane.

Here's a suggestion that might help. Take wiring diagram out of the Chevrolet service manual and track the wires one at a time using a highlighter and notes on the diagram. Or go to a JY and pull a wiring harness to bring home and lay on your garage floor...all of a sudden it becomes very clear and obvious. there are really on two major harnesses in the truck...under the hood and under the dash. Once you pull one and look at it...it will become very obvious.

Found the booklet! And inside the booklet there is a Detroit Locker Booklet!!!!!! It's the instalation instructions and maintenace booklet. Also on the receipt were tires and wheels with a work order for a rebuild on something. Cant read all of the paper. The mice really got to these books and documents. Found it behind the seat under a bunch of old newspapers.
