started shaving...

i just started installing my silinoids in my truck and i encurred some issues that i think i fixed. was wondering what anyone else did to overcome these issues.

1. i took the arm that "locks" the door off and welded the sliding tab in the "unlock" position.

2. i bent some 18gauge steel to mount the silinoid in the same place the stock interior door handle was.

here are some pics of what i had to do to make it work:

p.s. i have only done the right rear door on my cc. anything different to expect on the fronts. because the fronts are common among all 73-87s? right?

here is my plan for the door panel. the raised section in red will be cut out. then i will cut out a piece of 1/4" thick wood to the same shape as what is in yellow. then i will fill in the creavace (sp)? , doorlock hole, and the ashtray hole so the tweed will cover nice and smooth. then of course get a nice button to open the door and a new window switch. sound good? anyone got pics on their approach?

no. there is no linkage anymore. the silinoid pulls the latch and the spring loaded popper pops open the door. there will be a button wired to the silinoid on each door on the door panel to get out. i am going to have a back up manual pull cable that will be hidden so that i can get in even if my battery is DEAD!!

I wasn't thinking about getting in, I was thinking about getting "out".
Lets play the "what if" game for a minute. What if you need to get out in an emergency? Maybe the emergency is something like your battery shorted out rendering your electrical system inoperative, and now your truck is on fire......
