What make/model does the cable come from. Looks like a great install.

Did you totally eliminate the factory hood release?

the cable is from a 88-91 full size. if you check out the FAQ board putter did a write up on it. i just changed the brackets around alittle. the handle has two stages and you cut one of them out with a sawzall and make the cable operate it.

Been planning on doing this mod myself especially after reading the how too story on this forum.

I just picked up the parts needed to do this job and paid a whopping $5.00! Got a spare hood release so I could save my original "if things go sideways", and a release cable from an 88 GMC truck. Hope to do mine very soon.

The only thing I don't like is the inside release handle so I will lop that off and make a custom piece for that. (too plasticy looking for my '69!)

On another note, when I was removing the cable from that 88 truck, I just couldn't believe how much plastic those trucks have and how flimsy everything I touched felt! Cheap Cheap Cheap! I appreciate my '69 even more now.

Okay, so walk me through the changes you made to my format....I will admit that yours looks better and also does away with 'looping' the cable at the latch (I love improvements to existing plans...)....please fill in the details.
