What's this
I have a hole in the firewall I need to fill. The speedocable comes out there, but ther must be some sort of grommet I can get. Also, can someone identify this wire. I am referrinf to the red/pink wire coming out the firewall between the e brake cable and the electric plug.

The speedo cable is coming out of the clutch linkage hole. There are covers around I have one somewhere in the shop when I did the cab on my 67 I just shaved it.

I'm not totally sure about this, but I bought a 72 GMC cab awhile back that was originally equipped with a TH400 transmission. There was an electric kickdown switch attached to the gas pedal mechanism inside the cab that had a pink wire that went through the firewall in the same place as yours and I'm assuming it went down to the transmission.

Holes and stuff
Mario is correct about the hole being for the clutch rod. On automatic trucks that is covered with a grommet or a tin cover. Have seen both ways. The black cable above the wiring plug is the correct speedo location.
Pjmoreland is correct on the pink wire for 71-72 trucks. On a 70 model with T400 the wire exits the cab and goes to the carb mounted kickdown switch. An orange wire then runs down to the trans. The in-cab end of the pink wire is plugged into the fuse panel to provide power in "run only mode."

Right, speedo cable comes out up further. Somewhere along the way, the tranny end of the cable got shoved in there so it was out of the way.
Okay, does anyone have the cover or grommet that fits the clutch linkage hole. I can always create something, but original would be nicer.
