oil sending unit? Please HELP
I have a 70 c/10 with a 6 cyl all is original including the dummy lights . I managed to get a set of gauges, front and under the dash harness for my truck but the problem I am running into is when it comes to the oil and temp sender. I found the temp sender for the 250 6cyl but the oil sender with gauge on the 250 is a single wire unit and the gauge has the hole in the back for the oil line. does any one have any info that could help me
Thanks Ralph |

If I understand this, you are converting from light to gauge? If your gauge is a "manual" simply remove the oil sender and replace with a line kit.

Do you know if they make a manual sending unit for the 250 6 cyl?

It never has happend to me (knock on wood) but a friend had his oil line break inside the passenger compartment. Think about it. Whatever psi your pump is pushing out is spraying in the cabin.

I used the nylon line without any problems though I suppose most would recommend copper. As long as yoy don't route it across a hot manifold it should be fine. You'll also need the proper fittings (2). It should look similar to this Weatherhead® SAE 45° Flare Fitting below

You should be able to find line kits (Nylon or Copper) at your local parts store (or on-line if you can't find any local). They should run between $5-$9 depending on which type you get. I have had both types and luckily have never had a failure of either. The nylon kits are easier to work with and since you have straight 6, the oil line will mount on the passenger side of the block so the exhaust won't come into play.
