Are the rears from the 60-66 body style the same as the ones from 67-70, assuming they are coil spring rear? A friend is going to look at a junkyard this weekend, and I want to see if I can broaden his search to include these for my Burb.

You need to take a tape measure and check the distance between drum faces so you get the right width. Measuring between the backing plates doesn't always work, some have different width brake shoes and wider drums.

The '62 and older rearends are not Dana 44s or 12-bolts like the newer trucks (I'm talking 1/2-tons). They have a seperate nose piece rather than having a one-piece cast iron center section. They look like they'd be difficult to find parts for. Anybody know what to call these?

I'm pretty sure they are the same from 63-70 except the 63 & 64 had a longer panhard rod that hooked to a bracket on the right axle tube instead of the center section. Frank

they are similar, but are 6 lug and semifloat. I don't know if it has the same size gears or not, either.

So does anybody know for certain if a 63-66 12bolt 1/2ton coil spring rear would be a simple bolt on to a '69 Burb, provided I find one I am satisfied with??
