Divorced Tcase

What are some options on Divorced Tcases? I know Rockwell 221s were used in earlier chevy 4x4s, but what other options on there? can any tcase be converted into a divorced case? I have a far off project... just trying to do alittle learning before i get into it....

with enough time and effort, anything can be done. so yeah, you could turn any married tcase into a divorced one...but its just not worth it. a divorced NP205 from a Dodge or International will work just fine in a GM. Concerning the Rockwell, I used to have one in my truck, but it died. Parts are $$$ for it. The NP205 is too common and in most cases cheap to pass it up, and its plenty strong for just about any punishment you can give it.

I found out by measuring that my '71 IHC TravelAll has the same inner frame width as my '71 K20. So, I'm confident that the brackets & overhead cradle of the TravelAll's divorced NP205 would bolt right up to my '71 K20 by drilling 4 holes, 2 on each side. Maybe only the height of the overhead cradle would hit sheetmetal above in my K20, which would be a problem. Or, I'd have to position the NP205 low in the frame so that it hangs down too low and ruins the crossover height. I'm contemplating a divorced NP205 should I choose a 6-speed tranny that doesn't have an adapter available to mate it to an NP205. So this is theory. I haven't done this... yet.

The 205 from a dodge would be from 69-74 years.
