Question hub question..

... i have the stock spicer hubs on my GMC, have had no problems with them. On my Chevy though, I have mile marker selectros, the lock and un-lock real easy. The few times I've had them off (ball joints/bearings) they have been easy to remove and reinstall. I'm curious to everybody's opinions of them. The 71 axle is the external type, but there's no spacer between the dial and hub like with the spicers, i.e. they don't stick out as far.

I have always preferred the selctros as opposed to the spicers or warns, especially in the snow. A LOT easier to turn and service. I guess they just didn't have the advertising budget that warn did.

I was looking at getting the selectro's for my dodge dana 60, but heard too many bad things about them. I also decided that I am going to use 35 spline stub shafts on my axle when I get it finished, with around 40" tires (unsure of brand yet), and there are no 35 spline hub options for this axle, aside from having my stock drive flanges broached out.

Im not sure what dana 60 axle you have, but if it is an open knuckle dodge axle then you should be able to find 35 spline locking hubs for it. if not provided it is an open knuckle then you can use the outers from a chevy and use warn 35 spline hubs. i think warn has the big three covered as far as 35 spline hubs due to the popularity of the swap.

from 75-89 all Dodge D60's have external hubs (mine's a '78)...only aftermarket options for this axle are MM Selectro and Superwinch (both 30 spline). I could convert to GM hubs and then be able to get some 35 spline lockouts, but thats $400-$500 in added cost I could do without.
