C-60 Tach dash
Finally found a tach dash for my truck out of a C-60 that was at a local truck repair business. Could buy the complete cab for the same price as they wanted for just the cluster, so needless to say took the company crane truck down and picked her up, the only major problem was that with the cab loaded the truck was over 11' feet tall and I only have a 10' door on the shop so it was cold work outside today stripping the wiring harness and dash out. Dissasembled the instrument cluster inside and it is in amazing condition, the needles are not even faded. I am thinking about sending the surround out to a guy I know to get the plastic re-chromed and then maybe woodgrain the areas that are normally black, as I bought a do-it-yourself woodgraining paint kit in October and have yet to use it. I was going to post some pics but was so excited about the gauges being so good that I boxed them up and put them away for safe keeping. I hope to have some installed pics next month.

Factory speed warning
I forgot, factory speed warning, is that a box mounted on the fire wall that the speedometer cable runs into, or maybe it is to due with a two speed rear end. Maybe I lucked out and got another option.

If there is a speedwarning, there will be another white needle under the speedo needle.
Also, don't waste your time with a c-60 bezel, as they are different than the pickup style. Good find!!!!! Does it have vacuum or air?

Speed warning will have a second needle on the speedometer. It will be white.

Its got the vacumn gauge so it is a definite bonus. I didn't think that it had speed warning, I thought that the box was to due with a two speed rear end. The bezel just needs to be trimmed out to fit the mid 80's tilt/tele column that is installed.

Your gas gauge says overspeed...on the bigger trucks. In the red lighten up area.....you have to switch to a light duty trucks gas gauge and switch bezels...good find.

You don't have to change your bezel, it is just easier than messing with a big truck one. Usually the c-60 bezels also have extra holes drilled in them for manual throttles and such. And rod is right on the gas gauge. Yours will probably have overspeed and tandem lock. The pickup has temp and brake. Somewhere i have a gas gauge with a low vacuum idiot light.

I also think it would be easier to get a new bezel. You say you want to have it reconditioned, but you can replace it with new for 30 bucks.

Thanks for your concern, he is doing great he just needs to listen to his doctor and take it easy for a while. He is not supposed to be driving for 6 weeks and that is killing him as the day he had the heart attack he bought a dodge cummins dually and it bothers him not to be able to drive it.
Also my "adopted grandparents" (all of mine passed away while I was very young) are both in the hospital right now with heart attacks. I think that I better start changing my own eating habits now. |
