What did you get done this weekend?
Well, since Ken is on the road I thought I would get this going for him.
Sat. it was raining on/off & I was on call. I spent the day on/off @ work, but I did manage to make some progress on my stereo install in my 74. I got my door spacers mounted & 6.5" component speakers installed. I also mounted my 4x10's after sound insulating the somewhat modified brackets w/some sound deadening material used in motorhomes (kinda' like a cheap brown bread). I haven't decided whether I'm going to leave the spacers black (w/texture) or paint them tan to match the door panels/dash. I should have a new/GM/NOS dash sometime next week that I won off e-bay. Once it arrives, everything plastic gets a dye job so the inside will be looking decent soon enough. Today I went by fellow board member Zeus' house & looked @ some 67-72 parts for my beater & RestoRod. I came home & watched the second 1/2 of the race & worked on laying out the cut lines for 'Z-ing' my spare frame for my RestoRod project (I haven't fully commited to cutting yet). It was a nice day here in DFW so it was good to be out in the driveway.

I got the Chevy's exhaust installed, and the GMC's engine installed. It is coming back out pretty quick though, found a 4l80e and a divorced transfercase to put into her Lucky for me, the engine is easy to pull, no body to get in the way, lol

Moved the 82 from the bushes in the back yard out to the front yard for visibility. Tinkered with a few things on the daughter's Bonneville and my 96. Went to Monster Jam with the family Saturday night. Today, I did computer work. I'm off tomorrow, so I hope to get a lot of things done while the Kids are at school and wife is at work.

Looks like my project may start sooner than i thought it would

Started looking for a cool roll pan, with a tag in the middle and thats it. Hopefully get the cab completly in white sealer tomorrow, afer getting everything but the door handles and locks off.

friday night i worked on the axles some more. the 14bff is painted, just waiting for my disk brackets and diff cover to get here so i can put the hubs back on and the axles in. got the d44 completly apart, those lower ball joints were a pita but it just took some coaxing from a bfh and a hot wrench and they poped loose.
i should be getting parts from three different places this week, 1/2" flange 1/4 plate diff covers from greatlakeoffroad as well as a set of their lazer cut rear disk brackets, shocks and brake lines and stabilizers, and something else should show up thurs or friday............hehe few phone pics of the axle progress, notice the "custom" drivers steering knuckle that has a raised steering arm AND some sort of spacer block to raise the arm up even further. these axles came off a burban on 44's so i guess that was their attemp at correct steering geometry, lol. the block will be coming off of course

Lessee...
on the '73 CCD.. Determined the 600DP had a pinholed power valve as the idle mixture screws did nothing. Changed the front hoping that was it, but it wasn't. Have to pop off the carb on Tuesday to do the rear. Put in new plugs as the old ones were fuel fouled and 6 years old. Truck has Camaro headers and the two rear passenger plugs are such a PITA. I'll be putting proper truck headers on when I swap the '89 nose on. Had my balls broken by the HEI as usual. I hate those things. Going to get an MSD or something as soon as funds allow. Actually got to drive it for the first time in years. No balls, as the HEI isn't advancing the timing. Other than that runs okay. Adjusted the clutch. Found all the parts I had taken off when I sent it to have the floors and rockers done. Have to bleed the brakes. I did walk by the other trucks several times...

Saturday I spent assembling furniture for my daughters room. It was time for a Extreme Makeover to get all the little girl stuff out, and make room for some big girl things.
Like Scoti said, my weekend involved a road trip. Sunday Morning I got up and drove an hour to my bro-n-laws house to pick up the 700r4 that he built for me. Then I blasted off to Stoked Out Specialties in Rockwall. I spent some time talking with my buddy Keith, and checking out all the latest projects that they have in their shop. We unloaded the tranny and went to lunch. After lunch Roger showed up and we mapped out a plan for the transmission and I headed back to Houston..... Thanks for starting the thread Scoti...

It could have been mine as well. I talked to Capt. Kaos on the way home and I dropped the call about 5 times. Call, PM or email when you have a minute so we can get back on track....

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
Got the truck dropped. Quickly learning why to never buy a northern truck, I will never do another truck with rust, a bit of a headache getting this truck up here but it is truly a rust free truck and I will save thousands in repairs. Could have done without finding three black widow spiders alive in it, but I will take spiders over rust any day.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?
Saturday I replaced the valve stem seals on the wifes 84 gmc. When I pressured up the cylinders air was coming from the intake valley.I went ahead and finished the job and leak tested a couple of cylinders and found 40-60% leakage.Still smoked when done, rings are trash.Got pissed and started looking on clist for a plug and play engine. After several phone calls talked to a guy who didn't sound squirrely.Turns out he had put a crate motor in a customers truck and had the old one for sale.He advertised it as a 350 carb to oil pan.I went and looked and found it had new heads and looked like a very recent rebuild. It had a new edelbrock carb and intake and aluminum valvecovers. He threw in the starter and head pipes for the 350 manifolds.Got it home and saw the counter balanced balancer and decided to run the casting numbers.Yep! It's a 400.Installed it sunday and wow does it sound healthy.Has a rather large cam in it.Wish I knew more about it.The wife is very pleased with how it runs.Need to install a set of headers and see how it runs then.Feeling happy about my clist engine!Well spent weekend!
