Cowl Screen - LMC?
Anybody out there purchase the Stainless

I have heard the work well and are an easy install. And will be getting one in the future.
But my LMC catalog shows them at 29.95, in the fall 2001. Did they go up? ------------------

i just used a piece of screen door screen to cover the hole. it is the cheap way to do it but it works well. this ust a thought.
------------------ 67 k-20 w/327 and a 3speed and 4.57 rear with 17 inch split rims and 9 inch wide rubber(is my current project) 73 blazer 6 inch all spring lift 350/350 with crappy 3.08 gears and 35 inch bfg tires 54 chevy delray .060 over 250 i-6 which was taken from my first truck(68 gmc)

71Chev is right. Mine is the 2002 winter edition and it is 30 bucks. Let us know how good it works when you get one, I was thinking about getting one also.

Goto hardware store buy some screen take off cowl and attach in a few spots with some epoxy or something probably all be done for under $10-atleast thats what i was going to do When i lived in Washington and all them lovely pine needles,but no trees hardly here in Casa Grande,AZ so no wories anymore!!!!!

I did the same thing as Desert Rat. Easy, cheap and effective.

No offense, but I think it would look pretty cheesy to have some door/window screen epoxied under the cowl.
Just my opinion.  ------------------

Ok, so they are only 29.95 in stainless,
should have looked before posting, BUT, My big question that pretty much still remains un-answered, is "anybody actually use one from LMC or another vendor...not the hardware store ( although i know that would work ), But I kinda like the way the catalog makes the screen look, but does it look the same in reality? Hey Bubba,
I put one of the black anodized screens under my cowl as I didn't want the screen to be real noticable (also cheaper). I'm sure it would work at keeping any leaves, etc. out of the vent boxes but now that my truck is finished it doesn't spend any time under the trees. ------------------ 72 swb cheyenne super 350/350 69 cst20 BB longhorn

I did the same as rustfree, and it is really not very noticeable. Definately keeps the trash out! I think stainless screen would be good, but would also shine in the light. Like rustfree, now that my truck is finished (if that's ever possible), it stays under the truckport I built for it, but that cowl screen still catches an occasional stray leaf.

It wasn't on one of our trucks, but I have seen stamped chrome screen that mounts so that it is flush with the top of the cowl. Looked pretty cool. Could have been a custom job though.

I just bought the screens from LMC. I will put them in this week. I have them in hand and they look good. I will let you know this week on how they look installed

I made my screen out of 1/4"x1/4" mesh galvanized hardware screen and painted it flat black. I cut the strips 4 1/2" wide which covers the area nicely. I cut out the
holes for the washers and wipers and held it in place with body caulk so that I could handle it while fastening the cowl down. The hold down screws go through the squares at the locations and the screen is held in place securely. With the flat black, you can hardly notice the screen. Jim

You want to put some kind of screen there. I got leaves trapped out of sight in mine and it rusted through into the engine compartment. What a mess. Mark.

I saw a 67 Mustang once that had plexoglass covering the cowl vents with holes drilled in it. It looked real sharp. You couldn't see it unless you were standing next to the car.
