help with c30

i got a 69 c30 and dont know what to do with it yet
how can i tell what gear is in the rearend of it or do i have to take the cover off to see ?
how hard will it be to make a 4x4 out of it ?
i have got a tranny and xfer case and a 8 lug 10 bolt for the front end out of a 77 3/4 ton truck can i take the spring purches of the 77 and put them on the 69 ?
do i need to use the 14 bolt rear out of the 77 too ?if so where can i get a duelly conversion kit for it ?

is it a daully c30? probably has 5.14 gears. You could jack up one tire and rotate the wheel twice and count the number of times the driveshaft turns, little over 5=5.14 right at 4.5=4.57 or just over 4= 4.10.
yukon jack has a buddy that has converted a 2wd C30 to a 4wd. PM him.

if the rear axle isnt too rusty, the gear ratio might be stamped on the outside of the third member. both of the third members I have are this way.

I've got a couple of duallys.

They usually have some sick ratio in the rearend like 4.56 or 5...something. What I did was to pull a center section out of a 3/4 ton rearend and put it in. That got me a 4.10 ratio, which isn't great, but better.

The centersection swap is dead easy. Just unbolt the axles and pull them out a few inches, then unbolt the center section. It will drop onto the ground.

The dually has an HO72 rearend and the 3/4 ton has an HO52 rearend. But, the centers swap directly without mods. The HO72 dually rearend is hypothetically somewhat stronger, but it's splitting hairs in my opinion.

Is the cover removable? If not its a H110. the no-spin is still available for it.

Are you going to put a bed on it, or leave it as a flatbed?

If you are going to leave it flatbed, I have a '66 3/4 ton 4X4 that you could put your body on. It already has a 14 bolt rear and D44 frontend. It has a 305V6 with a SM420 4 speed.

I was hoping to get $800 out if it since the old V6 runs so good. I know it will part for more, but I'd like tro see somebody be able to use it as is. I could possibly deliver it since your in TN. Also, if you are still looking for a 4 speed bell housing, I can put one on your door step for $50. I get a great rate on shipping and you are close.

Probably has 5.13 gears. The no-spin is still available for that rear also.
