While there's already a thread on this - where can I look on my truck for casting numbers? I'm curious to find if my motor is an original motor or a drop in, I'm betting it's not original but it'd be nice if it were.

Decoding the suffix code, (located on the right front of the engine block) should give you the information that you need.

There is a pad approximately 3/4" wide by 2" long at the right front of the engine block. It is like an extension of the block deck. If you have AC than it will be hard to see. The pad could also have a lot of paint on it. The pad is at an angle but the stamped surface faces upward so you should be able to see it. If you can't find it repost and I will take a pic of a pad.
