Question SOLVE the 4x4 PUZZLE......PLEASE!

Who knows what the correct color Spicer hub centers were for 71/72 3/4 ton 4x4's?? My axle has a blue one and a red one?? Very patriotic yes.

Just curious what the factory put on the 3/4 tons that year. If both of mine work I'll probably leave it that way till one breaks or wears out.

Thanks,
72longbed

Jim,
will this red f$*#d hub work on this GM Dana?? The axle is out of the truck and apart so I don't know if it had been working.

Thanks,

Question

Jim,
sounds like you know your stuff, here's a tougher one for you. The spindles on a 71 Dana 44 3/4 ton 8 lug, are they the same spindles whether its 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?? Will spindles from a F#%d Dana or a Jeep Dana also fit my 71 GM 3/4 Dana??

I need to replace the spindles and want to get the right parts. Can't afford NEW, so I'm looking at buying used ones in great condition and want to know what will fit it.

Thanks for your advice here,

Thanks Jim, Great Stuff!!

What I have are the 71 Dana 44 3/4 ton Spindles. I'm looking to replace them with a pair that are not 'beat to s#!t' like mine are. Previous owner must have liked to use the 'bigger hammer' method a lot.

Know of any that are in great shape, please let me know.

Thanks,
72longbed

For what its worth...
If you look through the pictures I posted in:
Older thread
you'll notice the truck I took pictures of has a red Ford lockout on one side and what appears to be a gold one on the other.

BTW, that truck is now on my property and is still for sale. It is my wife's friend's son's truck. They lost their storage spot so I offered them a place off the street. It looks like a th400/np205. The engine sounded strong. The battery is dead. Supposedly reverse is out.
