Cosmetic med olive interior parts: steering wheel/dash pad/ rubber floor mat question

The original color of my truck is (504) med olive and interior (629) olive. My question is, when I go to 67-72 chevy parts websites in search for these items I either run across a pull down tab that says "green" or a pull down tab that doesnt even allow selection of a color. If I pick green, am I to assume that the items in question will match my olive colored paint (as well as can be expected) or am I going to get some dark forrest green dash pad and so on? Can anyone clear this up for me?

Also, is there anyone out there selling an olive steering wheel, dash pad or even a rubber mat that might still be in good shape? If so would you mind posting a picture and price?

Green

Welcome to the board, GREEN is in!
Sorry, no answers for you but the dash in my 70 was the darker green when I got the truck. Not sure if they made a lighter colored dash pad or not.
Steering column was the same, darker green. Is that "factory"?
Anybody know?
Post some more pics of your truck, looks nice in your avatar.

IN 1970,71,72 the only green is olive green for the interior.

I restored my 71 GMC and every part that I ordered in Green was Olive green. There is no green floor mat available. I painted a black one with bulldog and color-matched green vinyl paint. I even painted a black bezel green to match so it looks factory.

Is there really such a thing as "med olive" steering wheel & dash pad?
I've only seen them in the darker color green.
Even the steering column in my 70 was the darker green.

Check out this pic, it's an unmolested truck with the darker green dash pad and steering wheel.
I think they match the trim not the body color, I'm thinking all the trucks are this way. Although it does show an olive steering wheel.

My dashpad is the darker green and the steering wheel is a darker shade than the paint job. I think the interior says "olive cust cloth trim" or something like that. So I guess that doesnt make anything else olive. As for the rubber floor mat replacements? You cant get green?

OK, guys, I did all of the research, there is only one color that is truly green and that is "olive" med, light or dark doesn't matter on the int. it is just olive. There is no other true green color, 67-68 had a blue green color, 69-72 had blue that looks almost greenish but there is only one color that would be considered at first glance "green" and that color is olive.

The steering column and horn button are supposed to be the same color as the steeing wheel. The steering wheel is slightly lighter that the door panels, dash pad and uph.

Color coded floor mats and dash bezels only came on GMC's Color coded carpet came on both.

Ed and I are taking pics of my GMC on Monday, I will post so you can see a restored green int. Ed helped with the resto.

Wow, thanks for the research. Mind pointing me in the direction you bought your green floor mat from?

A little OT, but I'm still looking for a pair of Dark Olive sunvisors to trade two pair of Aqua visors for--see my earlier posting.

I don't agree on their being only one green used in interiors from 70-72.

Here is a picture of my original 70 model interior. The green is much lighter than olive green.

When I later put a new dash pad into the truck, I had to settle for buying an olive one, as there are no repros of my green color. The olive dash pad was much too dark and clashed with the original color. I'll see if I can find a picture of the truck with the olive green dash pad somewhere.

The sticker on my glove box door keeps lying to me! It keeps telling me that my truck is "med green". Maybe some of you guys doing the research on original green colors could tell me what color mine is.

I bought the truck from the original owner almost a year ago. It looks to be pretty much unmolested, minus a repaint a number of years back. All the interior is original and untouched, and looks to be green. If not green, then what do i call it?

The lighter color green is what I am describing as a blueish-green. Almost an aqua color.

Mint68--It IS medium green . There were also a medium olive green and a dark olive green . Personally, I would call it aqua, but GM called it medium green--go figure. Check out this site: www.autocolorlibrary.com

I have to interject my opinion. I have had quite a few med. Olive colored 69-72 trucks, and most have featured the ( sort of ) matching olive green inerior trim. I helped my good friend buy a very original 69 C-10 years ago, and I have to tell you it has seat, door panels, dash pad, and steering column + wheel that are a dark aqua, or teal green color and I promise they are original. It is not the most suitable color match for the medium olive w/ white roof truck, but maybe they were out of the olive green hardware for a while. My 72 GMC Sierra is medium olive & dark olive and the dash and panels + seat are sort of darker than the medium olive paint. If you need pictures of either I will post them if someone will walk me through the school of computer illiterates.

Wow! Mint68, that sure looks like aqua to me. It really doesn't look like the grass at all. Here is my original 70, it says "light green" in the glove box. But who knows, maybe someone packed the dash full of bondo and painted it a crazy "aqua" color, just to throw off all the professional researchers.

my 69 was an original med. olive and white CST from what ive been able to find, with a bright green interior... not olive or aqua... im working on making it the interior green again, just need a seat cover and dash pad... its almost a pure green instead of aqua or olive....

edit: actually now that i look at it, the color of mint68's blazer seats are the color of interior i had, call me crazy but it looks pure green to me

Let`s keep Body-color paint and Interior-color vinyl seperate. In paint, you had Med.Olive(like Sooner1970 K10)and Dk.Olive.The interior color is Olive(called Green),a shade between the two paint colors. There was another Green in baseline interiors that was more like a Woodland/Hunter/Spruce Green at the same time,70-72?The Green in 69 was Aqua, not sure about 67-68.Anyway,the green being reproduced for interiors is the Olive-type.

Sooner,
I have a 72 C30 that has the same color codes you have. I took some pics for you. The interior was dusty so any shiny parts were just wiped down with a wet rag... I have a steering wheel that has a few cracks and no cap. The sun visors are perfect. The dash is cracked. The original green mat was torn up but I took a pic of a piece sitting on the ash tray next to the dash ... Let me know if you want the wheel or visors and I'll figure out a price... (I also have some nice door panels for sale from the same truck)

I would like to see some pictures of the door panels if you get a chance to take them, paticularly the driveside one. Maybe a price on the steering wheel as well. Thanks
