What is a 72 lwb worth?

I have located a 72 Custom deluxe all origianal 98k miles. ac,ps,pb,350 v8 with auto trans engine compartment is very clean. Paint is factory yellow over white some rust in usual places (under battery on front right fender and both rockers) some trim missing on the bed. Body overall is in good shape with no major dents. Interior is in mint condition with cloth yellow and black seat with white door panels. Any ideas of whats it's worth? I just would like some ball park numbers. Sorry no pics available

Hard to say, in California it might be worth 25 bucks, in Virginia it might be worth $3000 or more. Without pics and location there's not much to go on.

Dane, welcome to the board. From your description (custom deluxe, cloth yellow and black seat, white door panels), I am tempted to say it might have the Highlander package. Is the front seat plaid?

Mike Files, where did you get the second price guide? I feel it more reflects the real truck prices we see today, and more real than the NADA price guide posted in first pic.

Hey DT, here is the link http://www.vmrintl.com/cctm/coll_frame.htm

The only thing is they only made 3 million of these trucks and 3.5 to 5 % were factory 4x4's. This guide does not add more to the value for this. This IMO is a BIG mistake in judgement.

I think I have some links saved of discussions of the Highlander option package for the 1972 only Chevy trucks. As I find them, I'll post them up here on this specific post.

Hey admins, once we have compiled all the information we have on this subject, we need to move it to the FAQ for ready reference.

No problem Dane. The Highlander was a special factory promotional package, and I doubt there are any real estimates on how many were made, let alone how many of each particular color and option group. They are rare, and desirable to those that know they existed. The knowledge of them existing is a problem of it's own. I have seen people selling or buying these and not even knowing what they had.

I have the same problem with putting a value on my 72 C-30 with the 9 foot long step side bed. It is known that only 1542 were ever made that year total, but no data as to color and option packages. For all I know, mine might be the only one in existance with this color and option list. How many now are left in existance after 33 years of working these truck and accidents?
