Power Steering Lines - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 69 SWB that the PO installed power steering on. He obviosly did not run the lines correctly, because he cut up the inner fender. Can someone tell me how they are supposed to be ran ...or even better, show me a pic? Thanks.

Here is a pic of the lines attached to the frame. I think that is where you are having your problem since the PO cut the liner for clearance.

Where did you get that clip to hold the power steering lines down? I need one of those..

The clips are factory. The mid 70's trucks have them also. If you cannot locate one, let me know and I will dig thru my treasures to see if I have an extra one.

Okay, so mine does not quite look like that. I could use one of those clips also. Autozone told me they could order me lines for it. I just wonder if they are actually bent correctly or if they are just close so they can be used on various models.

The new lines should fit correctly,that looks like the PO just yanked some lines off something and made them fit.

It almost looks like the pressure line is mounted backwards. It just might lay down on the frame correctly if you undo the pump end and loosen the box end. The line should lay down like the earlier picture.

I had a problem with the lip of the inner fender grinding almost through the metal line. A little snip snip and fold the lip cured the problem.

You're going to be disapointed when they order you the lines. The pressure line will be fine. The return line is a piece of hose and a couple of clamps. They expect you to already have the steel end with the fitting from your old line. You have to source the return line end from somewhere else.

As a member of the "whatever works club" I'm running a PS pump & lines from a 77 van. It works but it don't look right. What I do know from scouring the wreckers is there's a LOT of variations of lines out there, especially the steel parts. Good luck on your quest for the right parts.
