What trans to use?Hugger Orange original?

Bought a Hugger Orange 1971 2wd shortbed,v8(307),3 spd a few months ago(I'm 3rd owner),The only thing changed was they converted to HEI and the column shift to floor shift. 3spd shifts sloppy and jams.Should I keep the 3 speed and maybe get a new shift unit or go to a 4 speed? Looking for a direct bolt in swap. Also the sticker in the glove box shows the paint as Hugger Orange(and that what it is)But I haven't seen many.Is that the correct color? Any help would be great.

I'll have some pictures later.

Thanks
Mike

First of all, welcome to the board and congrats on finding your truck. Sounds like a nice one. As for which tranny to use, well that's up to you. There are many members who have swapped manuals for automatics and vice- versa. Whatever you decide, you'll find parts and help here. Now, let's see some pics.
