Autometer bezel gauges((WANTED)) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 82 chevy DO any one have or know anyone that has a bezel with Autometer gauges intalled in it they want to sell? I think it has to be a 81-87 bezel in order to fit mine. if any one know were I can get one please let me know, I rather buy one all ready to install cause have no time to buy gauges and do the mods, saw these pics last week and I have to it. attach a couple picture's below showing what im lookin for THX md MDATX@YAHOO.COM

No one PRE makes them, that's Jeff's setup right there. It's really not all THAT hard to do..hardest part is wiring them up. Not really that hard though...
The Guages are spensive though, I think Jeff's setup was at least $500

Ok... I searched the forum last night for threads about this topic... I am glad that someone else made the post and not me here... so now I can ask my question... LOL. I didn't want to make a new thread because I know that the content is here somewhere.

Anyway, can you guys reply with links to other threads in the forum that have good information and write ups on this project.. Step by step of hooking up all the gauges, wiring them, etc, modifications needed (i.e. oil sending unit, etc), installing the tach... etc.

This is a project that I will be doing soon.

I have almost $700 in mine (gauges, indicators, alum bezel, and gauge wiring harness)...but it is woth every penny if you ask me. The eaiest part of the install was the purchase and use of the Painless gauge wiring kit. It has everything you need, and good instructions, on how to install the gauges in your vehicle.

Here is a link to Covan's Classics out of GA. He IS making a new Bezel with Gauges installed for $799. I saw him at Turkey Rod Run this year and he had one on display...it was VERY NICE!!! You can order the bezel in one of four "colors", Black, Woodgrain, Brushed Aluminum or Carbon Fiber. On the site it says that it comes with the 2 1/16 and 3 3/8 guages, but the model he had setup at TRR had the 5" and 2 5/8" gauges.

Keep in mind that this is a direct fit full new bezel...not just a billet overlay ontop of the old bezel. The fit and finish was VERY nice and the piece was pretty heavy.

My son garrett was able to make his own dash similar to Jeff's, he used a newer bezel 82 up and bought all the guages and just enlarged each hole to fit the new gauges using a dremel. He also hollowed out the back of the bezel as was shown. I don't know how much he has into it since he went with a new bezel - chrome, dash pad, gauges and wire and has the patients to do this type of work. Everything works fine now he's trying to come up with something different for the turn signal lights in the dash.

Crush, that is a pretty sweet deal for 800. Like I said, I have 700+ in mine...not counting the time it took me to build it. I do have a question, and maybe you can answer it for me (since you have spoken with this company). Do they offer these bezels for all the different years, or is it a one size is supposed to fit all setup? As you may already know, the H/L switches moved slightly thruought the years, some trucks have A/C...some don't...stuff like that. Just curious, I really like to looks of this and may consider one down the road for a future 73-87 project.

When I spoke with him in Daytona I mentioned that there were some differences between the years. He said that he was aware but that it was too expensive to make different molds for each of the differences so he went with a "standard" style. He said that he had test fitted it into different years with no problems and that he MAY offer it with certain areas "blank" (i.e. a/c vent, windshield wipers...etc..) if demand is strong enough...

Here are the "brushed" and the plain black styles also..
