Progress on a sunday.......and a question for ya'll
Well sunday i spent a couple of hours(not many) working on the old gal before i had to attened other business. Here i started on the rear floor........I spent a good time making sure it damn near perfect just got to do some small modifications.
Also the 3rd picture is a support brace for the bed side.........do they reproduce this piece? I'm already making a piece for it but all I have at the moment is my cardboard templet. It would save me some thinking and time to just order the piece. i'm not worried if they do not make it but.........do they reproduce it? Last edited by Alexis; 02-28-2005 at 04:13 AM. |

Are you refering to this piece of the door pillar? I believe they reproduce the door pillar lower portion they are the same as on a pickup. If you can find a decent one on a pickup you can drill out all the spot welds and replace the entire piece. If you are talking about the door pillar I would advise against trying to make one from scratch. There are some tricky bends at the bottom and the length has a factor in where the rocker panel will sit.

no, not that part, its the piece in the picture with 3 holes, one big, the other is small and one is blocked up from a rusted bolt.

Nope that part isnt reproduced. I had to fix both of mine. The way I did the one in the picture above was I cut it off of the bedside at the top black line, did the repairs to the panel then welded it back it. This is another tricky part to fix because it determines the placement of the rocker boxes. A trick I used to make sure that I get the holes in the right spots when it is repaired is to take a sheet of white paper, lay it down on the surface with the holes and with a dirty hand rub out the outline of the piece and where the holes are located, make sure to rub a reference point like the end. I believe I also had to do the repair in a few steps due to the angles, cut out of picce, weld the new stuff in, cut out the next piece etc etc.
