My 72's dash harness is totally hacked, i have a 71 parts truck with a 4speed(my 72 is auto). Can i use the 4 speed wiring without running into problems with the neutral saftey switch?

The 4spd. harness does not have the neutral safety switch provision. It will work fine, just don't try to start it in drive while standing outside the vehicle because it will then proceed to catch your toe under the wheel, run over your leg, continue through your garage door and ding up your chery '66 Chevy II Nova. (happened to a friend of mine, he was hobbling around pretty good buy I stilled laughed at him!)

It would be pretty easy to wire the switch in though. Just run the ignition wire through the switch.

how about the reverse lights?
