2wd ride height

Over the weekend, I helped a buddy get his AT back into his '68 SWB fleetside truck, and go fry some tires
Anyway, it was lowered with cut springs when he got it. we put stock springs back on it a couple years ago. When looking at it Sunday, it sits lower than my 72 SWB did. Did they do something different between the 68 and my 72, or have i just been around my 4X so long, that I forget how low the 2WD trucks sit?
