Will I need larger rims?

A guy I know has a 1993 C1500 with stock rims (they look like 15"x6.5") and no-name 31x10.5"-15 a/t tires who wants to sell his truck to me. It'd be nice to not have to buy larger rims, but if I like the 31x10.5's I'd rather buy bigger wheels instead of switching to a smaller tire. I've been to BFG's website and they only recommend wheels between 7-9" for that size of tire.

If BFG says their 31x10.5-15 tires need a 7-9" rim and the stock rim width is only 6.5". I don't know if the wheels are 15x6.5 or 15x7, but I know that the 16" wheels GM sells are only 6.5" on 3/4 tons and 6" on dooleys.

those tires are fine on a 6.5" wheel, I would run a 31x10.5" on no wider than a 7" wheel, 8-9" and your getting closer to losing a bead off-road.

The company who made my tires says 8.5-10" but i'm running them on 8" wheels cause I hate losing beads lol. For just an off-road rig I bet you could run 35x12.5's on a 7" wide wheel.

Thanks, it'd be nice to keep the stock wheels 'cause it'd save me money.

Losing beads? Does that mean when your tire comes off the rim when running a tire at low pressure?
