How to tell from vin if 4wd vs 2wd

Considering buying a 71 4x4 and was wondering how I can tell from the vin if it was originally a 4wd. Also this is the first 4x4 I have looked at and would appreciate any suggestions on what to look for when I go to see the truck.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Start of the Vin: KS-4wd 6 cylinder and KE-4wd 8cylinder.
2 WD start with C instead of the K.

Thanks.

Now since the VIN starts with CE, does that tell me it was never a 4wd?
Sorry if the question is a dumb one.

Thanks again.

CE is not a 4x4 Vin.
